The most popular game in the live poker rooms at PKR is the Texas Hold 'Em poker variant. The popularity is in large stemming from the fast pace of the game, as well as from the great psychological aspect enforced by the aspect that all players share
five common cards and only have two private cards. Texas Hold 'Em is also the game that is known from popular TV shows such as the World Series of Poker .
Before enacting in the free poker at pkr com, we will introduce you to the basic terms and provide you with a very basic strategy that, despite its simplicity, will help you decide when to play and when to fold in the live poker room.
The Button at PKR
The button represents the dealer. The button moves clockwise around the table after each hand is finished, and the player "on the button" gets his cards last and bets last in each round. Keeping up with the current location of the button is a huge consideration when determining positional strategy.
The Blinds at PKR
The first 2 players to the left of the button are forced to put in the blind bets. The first player puts in the small blind, equal to half of the minimum bet, while the second player puts in the big blind, equal to the minimum bet limit.
The Deal and Betting Rounds at PKR
Each player is dealt two cards, starting with the player to the left of the button. These cards are called pocket cards. It is also the player to the left of the button who is the first to take action after the deal where he or she can choose to call the big blinds bet, fold or raise. When everyone has taken action, three common cards are laid in the center of the poker table. These three cards are called the flop. When the three cards are on the table, another betting round is starting. When this betting round is completed, a single card is laid face up, next to the flop, for a total of four cards face up. Another betting round is initiated, and followed by a fifth and final card called the river. A final round of betting occurs, starting with the first player remaining to the left of the button.
Showdown at PKR
When
the fifth round of betting is complete, a showdown occurs in which the winner is determined by the best five card hand possible using the 5 common cards and each players' pocket cards. The five cards on the table, which will result in a tie where the remaining players split the pot, might constitute the best hand. It is also possible to have a "tie" in which the players with the same hand strengths split the pot.
The cards and the hands at PKR
The decision about when to raise, check and fold at the live poker table is largely a matter of aggressiveness and psychological insight. It is, however, possible to list a number of hands with which you should always stay in the game when playing in a live poker room. Everyone should play the hands in category 1 and most hands in category 2, while it is a matter of will to risk whether or not to play the hands in category 3 and especially category 4.
